In 2001 the Diamondbacks’ inspired the baseball nation as the small market team that took down the mighty Yankees in game seven of the World Series. Since then, the D-Backs have only been to the playoffs three times; and having not reached the World series since the ’01 campaign, Diamondbacks’ general manager Dave Stewart has decided the time to win is now.

Key Offseason Acquisitions

The 2015 offseason has been a wild one for our D-Backs

  • Signed SP Zack Greinke — six year/$206,500,000
  • Traded for SP Shelby Miller
  • Traded for SS/2B Jean Sugara
  • Signed RP Tyler Clippard — two year/$12,250,000

The D-Backs had a great season offensively finishing in the top 10, overall, but it is hard to win games when you give up more runs than your high powered offense can cover. That is why the focus of the offseason was building the pitching core, and in comes Zack Greinke. The current reigning Cy Young winner from last season left the division rival Dodgers and signed with the snakes for the next six years, simultaneously bolstering their rotation immediately. The D-Backs GM decided that wasn’t enough so he also traded for a very strong number two pitcher from the Braves, Shelby Miller. With these two leading the way defensively and our already robust offensive, the Diamondbacks should be headed back to the playoffs in 2016.

Season record prediction 90-72
