When fall rolls in and pumpkin spice everything starts to take over menus across the country, the pressure for fellow bakers and hosts to start preparing their own menus for the big Thanksgiving feast can be a little overwhelming. Here are three easy recipes for Thanksgiving that are sure to make your friends and family happy.

Sweet and savory bite-sized cocktail weenies are the perfect appetizers to snack on while you watch the Detroit Lions take on the Philadelphia Eagles for the annual “ Turkey Day Game.”


Caramelized cocktail weenies

What you need:

1 bag of Hillshire Farm Beef Lit’l Smokies

1 Cup of brown sugar

Large Ziploc bag

A baking sheet (preferably 15x10X1)

Toothpicks to serve


Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees

Step one: Pour your 1 cup of brown sugar into a Ziploc bag

Step two: Put a handful of Lit’l Smokies in the Ziploc bag and then shake the ingredients together. Repeat until all Smokies are covered in Brown Sugar

Step three: Spread your Lit’l Smokies onto the baking sheet

Step four: Bake for 30 minutes

Stick a toothpick in each cocktail weenie and then serve.


Simple Stuffing:

Stuffing is a Thanksgiving side dish that is timeless but yet, selective. Here is a simple, delicious, and no measure recipe that will be sure to wow everyone.


What you need:

1 Box of Stove Top Stuffing Mix

1 1/2 cups of water

1/4 cup (4 Tbsp.) of butter

Two sticks of celery

Half of a white onion

1 small Gala apple


3/4 cups of crushed pecans


Step one: In a large sauce pan bring water and butter to a boil.

Step two: Stir in stuffing mix, cover and then set aside

Step three: Dice your onion, celery and apple; then sauté. (Wait to add the apples and pecans last because they will take less time to cook)

Step four: Add onion, celery, apples and pecans to your stuffing mix. Mix together and then serve.


Pumpkin Bars

These delectable pumpkin bars with a cream cheese frosting will have your guest requesting them every year.

What you need:

4 eggs

2 cups sugar

1 cup oil

15 oz. can (2 cups) pumpkin

2 cups flour

2 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. baking soda

2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

1/2 tsp. cloves


Step one: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a ½ sheet (16 ½ X 11 ½ cookie sheet with sides) pan.

Step two: Beat eggs until foamy. Add sugar, oil and pumpkin. Beat two minutes. Add dry ingredients.

Step three: Pour into pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step four: Cool and then frost.

Cream cheese frosting

What you need:

6 oz . cream cheese

2/3 cup butter, softened

2 tbsp. milk

2 tsp. vanilla

4 cups powdered sugar


Step one: Beat first 4 ingredients until fluffy.

Step two: add 4 cups powdered sugar. Beat until well blended.

Top each bar with a candy corn pumpkin.
